This 60+ minutes class focuses on postures that promote spine and hamstrings connection at the pelvis. Known as a “coupled” fashion as when the pelvis tilts back, the lumbar vertebrae flex forward. In Yang part, the routine starts on the spine with the knees towards the chest in the purpose of reaching the lower back first. Afterwards the child pose and standing bend forward to adapt gradually spine and hamstring. In the Yin part, we continue with forward bend on seated postures.  

Forward bend is the best among asanas as the pranic channels rise through sushumna and the digestive fire increases. It’s also mentioned that (in old yoga book – Hatha Pradipika) the abdomen becomes flat, and the practitioner becomes free from disease. Forward bend poses help in releasing emotions like ego and arrogance by surrendering to the Universe and its energies. It is about letting go, relaxing and letting things happen on their own.

Warm up. Sun Salutations.

Work – Yang: Supine Knees-to-Chest. All fours – Cat Cow. Ragdoll.  Intense Side Stretch. Downward Facing Dog.  Warrior Series. Wide-Legged Forward Bend variations.   Extended Triangle. Eagle. Standing Forward Bend Hand-to-Toe.  Camel. Rabbit. Yin: Half Butterfly. Low Squat. Straddle. Shoelace. Half Shoelace. Half Split. Caterpillar. 

Reset of the spine and cool down on the floor.

The corpse pose would be on your own in your sacred space at home for 10-15 minutes after your virtual class.
